Great beef, pizza, burgers, and many others. Tons of fries and very retro inside the restaurant. Fast service and great for lunch, quick dinner, or a late night meal. Recently went here two different times. Got a polish one time and a sub the other. Both very good although the sub mortified me after realizing they added "Italian butter oil". It had mortadella and salami! Why would you put BUTTER on a sub that is already so full of fat. Anyways, one item is not enough to change my opinion on this fine establishment.

I live in California, and whenever I'm in the area I visit this place for the Beef Sandwiches (The other stuff seems on par with other fast food places). I recommend ordering the Beef Sandwich "Spicy and Extra Juicy". This will be incredibly messy because of the au-juis but well worth it. If you can't handle spicy you can get sweet peppers instead. The fries at this restaurant are better than the other Tore & Luke's on Rand Road. They are crispier instead of soggy. As others have mentioned, one bag of fries will feed about three people.

Let's hear it for the good old fahioned local joint! Awesome beef and anything else you care to try. YUM

Go here once in a while for lunch and it's passable. We have a nickname for it, the "Fries as Big As Your Head" place since the french fry orders are gigantic.

This place used to be a favorite for burgers, but something about them has gone downhill in recent times. The burgers aren't as tasty as usual, feels like they are skimping on ingredients or on the sauce. Fries are often cold by the time you get them. I miss how they used to be.

This place has fantastic cheeseburgers, lots of fries, friendly and quick service. For a quick cheap american take out place thats open late, I would recommend Tore & Luke's.

Well first, the people weren't really nice. The prices are way high. We ordered a beef and burger with one fry one drink and it was 16. Their large soda is really a med. They charge extra for cheese on the beef(normal) along with extra for the peppers. Never have I heard of charging 40 cents more for peppers on an already 7 dollar beef. The burger was just ok and the beef was dry. The inside could use a cleaning and new chairs. Do NOT use the bathroom and pray no one else does because as soon as that door is opened the whole area smells awful. The only saving grace of this place was the fries.

I ordered the Italian beef and sausage and I must say, heart attack in the waiting. The sandwich was wrapped in two sheets of wax paper and when I got to my table to eat it, they were already see-thru. This is what Homer Simpson calls the Window to Weight Gain. And an order of fries are your #*&#%^*&%# kidding me. The single order of fries can feed a immigrant Filipino family of 4. That was just over the top. Would I eat here again.... maybe, if I was driving somewhere I was unfamiliar with and starving, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

We stopped here last week after visiting someone in Palatine. There is a huge amount of shopping in this area. They have continued to put strip mall after strip mall filled with large departments stores and chains. This family run restaurant stands out literally and figuratively because it is not the MAN. They have a small menu with first rate quality. I recommend the beef and burgers. There are a few independent little stands like this around, so go and support them and keep 'em alive!

This was another experience in fate. I was on my way home from the Vet and I had my bird in the car with me. My husband called and asked me to pick up some lunch for him. Well, it was a hot day and I could not leave my bird in the car, so I had to find a drive-thru & I would not go to a chain. Then I saw Tore & Luke's. I remembered there was a Luke's Italian Beef place- years ago- and it was good. Well, I had to get the Italian Beef sandwich (just to check if it was still good) and I got the char grilled chicken sandwich for my husband, with an order of fries. Wow, wow & wow. All three were a hit. Even my fussy husband was impressed and asked if they deliver. I hope they do. But either way, I'll be popping in again.

lukes is just mediocre at best. the people don't really take pride in their food as they just sell it, not love it. The pizza is very greasy and the fries amount is to be split between two, oversized gorillas.go spend your cash somewhere else.

I gave them a try and didn't enjoy the beef or the burger that we got. The beef had no taste and the burger was absolutely nothing great. Definitely not a place I would return to.

The beef is tasteless and small. I really wouldn't let me dog eat this crap!

The food is always good from lukes. Let alone the fries one order of fries can feed a group of 3. Its worth going to late night or even for lunch

For a fast food eatery this place had a pretty good pizza. I have triued their locatons elswhere in NW burbs and have no complaints. The service is quick and food always good. They work really hard at this place. Beef is the best in the area.

Been coming here for over 20 years, the Beef sandwiches are always the best. An order of fries can feed 2/3 people. Keep up the good work guys.

I had a beef with sweet and hot peppers juicy, not bad but the whole thing fell apart and I ended up eating it with a fork. If I had ordered it to go and driven for 15 mins I would understand and it would have been my fault, but when I eat it right away I would hope they could serve a sandwich that stays together. Huge portion (especially the fires) but also pretty expensive when you consider it was over $10 for a beef fry and drink. I think next time I will stick with Johnnie's. Side note... The slices did look pretty good, but I didn't see anyone eating them.

Overpriced. The same guy who took my money made my food without washing his hands. Fries were undercooked and raw. Staff is unfriendly. Place needs an intervention.

If you are hungry, low on cash and relatively healthy, Tore & Luke's is a great place. My experience is mostly in the cheese pizza, mini italian sub, and polish sausage, but the real attraction here is the huge bag - o - fries that you get with your meal. The fries themselves are on the greasy side but are good tasting and large in quantity. If you can't finish them, you can wrap them up in the bag, refrigerate them and have them some other time. The burgers will take a little longer to prepare, but the pizza and hot dogs will be served quickly. The best bang for the buck would be the pizza meal, given that the pizza has not been sitting out for a long while (you can usually tell just by looking at it when you walk in). The pizza, fries and drink will cost you less than 5 dollars and a polish sausage meal will cost under 6. The burger meals are a little more costly, in the 7 dollar range. They used to have coke at the fountain, but now use Pepsi. This place, more specifically the bag-o-fries, influenced a local band to write a song entitled "Bag-O-Fries", which I feel captures the experience almost perfectly. The lyrics are below. I like eating my bag o fries I ain't kidding you, I don't lie I like eating my bag o fries Looking at them I get hypnotized They're delicious, a big bag of grease They're delicious, but I know my life is on lease I like eating my bag o fries I ain't kidding you, I don't lie I like eating my bag o fries Looking at them I get hypnotized But now my heart is starting to ache Maybe I should take a break But I grab a cup and take a sip of pop The pain leaves me and I don't have to stop My feeling's no longer going south So I take a couple fries and stick them in my mouth They're delicious, a big bag of grease They're delicious, but I know my life is on lease I like eating my bag o fries I ain't kidding you, I don't lie I like eating my bag o fries Looking at them I get hypnotized

Very good pizza. Their beef is really good as well. The place is a bit pricey if you want some fries and drink to go along with a sandwich. They do in fact have small fries, but I don't think it's listed on the menu at this location. The giant fries is really good, but excessive if you are there alone.

The Drive Thru is open really late, they are famous for their big bag of fries, and they have great Chicago style food. The bag of fries is literally huge and the place gives you a lot of food for the money. This is one of my favorite places to go for a cheesy beef and bag of fries.

Used to get food for the family from here all the time, that all changed about 6 months ago. I cannot tell you how many times they've got the condiment order wrong. Good thing I'm not allergic... Everytime I ask for no mustard, guess what I find on everything once I get home. I told everyone not to go there and some continued to, until my mother in-law got some kinda beef and the pepper on it still had the sticker on it.. So I guess you know the peppers are fresh.. I give my money to hot dog places that can actually get a simple order right

    (1)
  • Paul C.

For starters, they screwed up my order through the drive-thru (place was not busy). Not surprising, considering the speaker system was totally garbled. Next...when you are from Chicago and you say you want a 'hot dog with everything'....EVERYTHING should include sport peppers, as well as celery salt, both of which were missing. I also ordered a beef, which was decent but not great. Sorry, but Portillo's (sadly) wins in every category....even price.

This is unequivocally my family's first stop after coming home from a long vacation. My mom and dad loves the beef, brother loves the pizza, and I love the dogs. My mom ESPECIALLY loves their French fries. Probably some of the best fries I've ever had. She orders them extra crispy.

This place is hard to rate for me. I'm certainly qualified as I've realistically eaten here at least 1000 times. It's good in a lot of ways, but falls short in others. The beef is good, but not as good as portillos. Some people love their burgers, i think they're 'meh.' The pizza is pretty decent by the slice if you get there before noon. Thick greasy and hot, the schoolhouse special is a great deal. As the day goes on the pizza becomes a riskier choice--ew heat lamps. Also, the 6 times I've ordered full pies from them have been underwhelming. The fries are SO generous, although us O.G.s remember when they used to be even bigger. The cheese sauce is one of my favorites since peeps closed. The hot dogs are Vienna beef and good, but overpriced. The gravy bread has filled me up plenty of times when all I had was some coins I stole from my mom's change jar. Beyond the classics (things I've already mentioned), the menu gets sketchy REAL QUICK. it's like tore and luke got high before opening the place and wrote down all the things they like to eat. Then reality set in and they never figured out how to actually make them good. The Italian sub is terrible. The croissants are never fresh. Idk why they need all these 12 other random menu items that no one orders and are bad for the poor souls that do. Also this place is totally OVERPRICED. If you're 9 yrs old and still ride your bicycle, the school house special is a good value. But if you're trying to feed a van-sized family, you'll cry when the receipt is like $60. It's hard to give this place a less than 4 star review because of all the memories, but I only really come here for cheese fries these days. If you live in the area, you already know that portillos and heffys, are better bets, but hey they're better than that other place down the block (cough, new owners).

Why did my friend refer me to try this place out? Did i do something wrong to him? I dated his GF back in our HS days, but was this his revenge on me? ... It was horrible and I will never return. Not good food at all, and I have pretty low standards sometimes. Thumbs down!

Lately I've been on a bit of a personal quest to find more decent hot dog joints and pizza-by-the-slice places in the NW 'burbs. Tore & Luke's falls into both of these categories. Not life-changing, but a good dog and a decent slice that I will return for. I went in late on a slow Saturday night, but the quality of food was still good. I'd expect it's even better (i.e. fresher) during the lunch rush. My excitement got the better of me and I ended up with the number ninety-something combo: Hot dog, slice of pizza, fries and a Coke. Yes, the prices can get high. My combo was about $9.50 if I remember right. But I also left feeling like I ate $9.50 worth of food (i.e. too much food). The hot dog was a Vienna Beef (skinless, not natural casing) frank. Not quite a "jumbo" but larger than the average Chicago Hot Dog stand Vienna frank. It was tasty, hadn't been sitting around too long, the (poppy seed) bun was soft, everyone's happy. The pizza slice was good, although nothing to write home about. It had a softer crust, pan-style in texture yet more like a double-dough style slice in thickness. Like they say, "Thicker than thin crust, thinner than thick crust." The cheese and sauce were fine. This slice out of the pizza display case was tasty and satisfying, probably is even better when it comes fresh out of the oven during a busier time of day. The fries were fantastic. Roughly McDonald's thickness, cooked well, fresh, tasty. These are the kind of fries I associate with good Chicago hot dog joints like the former Peeps. No doubt there will be times I stop by exclusively for the fries. And yes, the fry servings are as big as everyone says. The place was clean. A bit run-down looking, but clean. As I was sitting there eating (2 hours before closing time), the man at the counter wiped down every piece of equipment in his area, maybe even twice. Tore & Luke's provides a good combination of different fast foods, all executed reasonably well. I'm happy.

Hit the drive-through Friday night for their great beef sandwich. Service was quick and the beef didn't disappoint. Also got the the bag-o-fries which were salted to perfection! May try the pizza in the future, but you can't go wrong with their delicious beef!

This place has one of the best beefs around. I always get a combo (beef and sausage) dipped with giardiniera. Big bag of fries cooked to order. Good subs and a decent hot dog. The hot dog comes with fries.

I was having some work done on my car at a nearby dealer and went here for lunch. I had the beef sandwich meal. The beef was OK. There are much better Italian Beef places in Chicago. I tried it juicy and the flavor was lacking. I ended up getting a cup of giardiniera which helped a lot. For a quick lunch it was good. The price was about what you would pay anywhere for a beef, fries, and drink. I thought the fries were very good. It was a good size portion and they were cooked just right. If I was in the area I may try them again.

I was eating Luke's fries before I was born. Pretty sure Mother Dearest is to blame for my fat cheeks, since she lived on them during her pregnancy. The golden arches have nothing on the Bag-O-Fries here. - THE Italian Submarine (that's the full scientific term): no, the pepperoncinis are not optional, they're a must. It's a classic not to be altered. - The Fries: get them. They go great with salt and ketchup and a bloated stomach, because you have to eat them all. It's the gift that keeps on giving, because the bag never seems to empty. So, so wish this place weren't far away. Actually, wish I weren't so far, far away.

What a surprise to stumble into here for lunch. Excellent beef sandwiches and Italian lemonade. They are always running specials and combos so jump on some of the value here. Like a mini Portillos without the high prices and fluff!

A great place to get you Italian beef and french fry fix. They have good pizza, great meatball subs, and really crispy fries. I've never had a bad experience here. The people are always friendly and the food is always good!

Good consistent food. Classic Chicago hotdog and loads of fries. BTW, a good beef should always be be a little wet.
